It hosts several major employers, a symphony, several museums, and an international airport. It is also conveniently located astride US Highways 20, 59, and 65. To the west of Birmingham are Jasper and Bessemer. To its east the major metropolitan areas include Anniston, Oxford, Talledega, and Jacksonville. Additionally, Pell City, Leeds, and Lincoln are located between Birmingham and the Anniston/Oxford exits on I-20.
